"Being Overloaded & the Importance of Delegation"

Scripture Read:

Exodus 17 - 20

Insight Verse(s):

18:21 Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. 22 And let them judge the people at all times. Then it will be that every great matter they shall bring to you, but every small matter they themselves shall judge. So it will be easier for you, for they will bear the burden with you. 23 If you do this thing, and God so commands you, then you will be able to endure, and all this people will also go to their place in peace.”

Insight Gained:

Not only is it smart to seek and listen to wise council, (it may really help), but it is also important to learn to delegate. One man is only that, one man, he cannot do everything and neither can I. I need to learn to not only listen and ask for the wise council of those equipped to give it but I also need to learn to delegate some of the responsibilities given me. Not just to anyone but to those who "fear God, are trustworthy & hate dishonest gain." By placing others in positions that I cannot serve in, either because of time or ability, I increase my productivity in what God has me doing and I also increase their productivity.

My Prayer to God:

Lord, help me to realize when my plate is too full and help me to find those things you want me to continue to do and those you want me to delegate to others. Please put in my life those who are F.A.T. (faithful, available, teachable). Those who will honor you and give you all the glory.
